Sony Xperia M

Sony Xperia M was one of the top Android smartphone releases of last year. It is a low priced handset with super fast performance and HDR photo imaging. With Battery stamina mode and Smart-connect features it is specifically designed for business users. The Sony Xperia M Android smartphone with one touch technology is packed with a number of excellent business features and available to buy at various online stores at an affordable price of Rs 12,490.

Fresh smartphone upgrades are talk of the town nowadays. This year, mega tech-event MWC 2014 witnessed a number of fresh smartphone and technology gadget launches. And Sony Xperia M2 handset is one of them that comes in two variants - first with dual SIM but no LTE support and the other single SIM variant supporting LTE. It seems that Sony has designed this Android mobile to take on Motorola Moto G in market. With front facing stereo speakers, the new handset likely to hit the market in spring this year. Sony  set the price of new mobile phone at £250 (around Rs 24,000) and it will be available in black, white and purple color variants.

After going through specifications and features of new handset, we found it to be far better than earlier model. Though with 148gms weight and 139.6 x 71.1 x 8.6mm size, the new handset is 33gms thicker and bigger in size than previous Xperia M handset, still the new handset is better in respect to many other features like display, OS, better processing speed and battery backup.

1. Wider display screen

More display size meant for more space for scrolling finger on touch screen of mobile. Thus, with 0.8 inch wider TFT display than Xperia M, the new 4.8-inches Xperia handset comes with 960 x 540 pixels (720p) scratch resistant display and offering better movie viewing experience.

2. Better performance with quad core processor and better GPU

This time Sony adjusted four-cores inside new model rather than just two of earlier handset. The 1.2GHz MSM8926 Qualcomm Snapdraggon Cortex A7 processor inside new Sony smartphone gives it better performing ability than earlier 1GHz MSM8227 chipset of Xperia M. The new Sony smartphone also performs much better for having more powerful Adreno 355 GPU over Adreno 305 of its predecessor.
Moreover, the operating system of Xperia M2 is also upgraded to 4.3 Jelly Bean over Android 4.1 OS of earlier model.

3. More internal storage

Users unsatisfied with the 4GB flash memory of Xperia M model will have a good reason for buying its fresh sequel. It comes with up to double - 8GB and four times 16GB internal storage variants that is also expandable up to 32GB via microSD. But the new model still sticks to 1GB of RAM.

4. Camera and battery specifications

On the new handset, with more powerful 8MP camera over 5MP of earlier handset, you can do better video recording with its 720p Full HD with 30 fps. Not only this, it is paired with a 2MP front facing-camera also. And the 2300mAh battery inside new handset over 1750mAh of Xperia M offer more power backup to its users.

Wrap up

In one of my earlier posts, I compared Sony Xperia Z2 Vs Xperia Z1 rugged smartphones and found new handset to be far better than earlier model. Likewise, its sibling Xperia M2 is also a nice upgrade to its predecessor and the users unsatisfied with display, storage capacity or processing capacity of earlier model may easily switch to it new handset. Still we missed dust and waterproof ability in this new Sony mobile. Hope under such mid-price range, the features embedded by the firm to this mobile would satisfy the customers.
